Is there anything original anymore? I ask this, as I just saw an article talking about how they are going to remake Footloose! Ummm, why? I believe Kevin Bacon knocked that one out of the park! Well okay, that might be a bit of an overstatement, but what other movie do you have a game of chicken with tractors?!!?!? I wonder if that scene will make it. It was just so riveting. Anyway, i just don`t get it. I mean is Hollywood really that lacking of stories? Or do they really think that we need updates of those movies, and if so, I would like to nominate a few I would love to see Hollywood take a crack at, but would hate them for doing so...here we go: 1. Roadhouse: Think about it. Who would they cast in Swayze`s role? Zac Ephron? I heard he`s looking to get a bit edgier and away from the song or dance. Or perhaps he`s holding off for Less Than Zero. Either way, no one, and I mean NO ONE can replace my boy Swayze in that one! First off...that hair! Badasss! 2. Flashdance: Oh you know they want to. I mean duh, a natural transition from High School Musical. I don`t even know any young "Starlets" that they would cast. But I do know the Soundtrack would have songs remade by Kanye West or Akon, which is enough to make me puke right there. Though I do say that Kanye has the best lyric ever written in a song, "I used to be Commander if Chief of a Pimp Ship Flying High". I just want to know, need to know, when he wrote that, did he look down at the paper and just smile thinking to himself, "yes...fuck yes"? Someone get back to me on that one. 3. Sixteen Candles: Who doesn`t want a remake of a movie in which one of the characters goes by "Dong" or "The Donger". Oh i`m done with this list, as so many movies come to mind, and I realize that each of these old movies is immortalized in my mind with the people that played them. I mean really, you can never replace the cast of Breakfast Club, Young Guns, Top Gun, etc... Come on Hollywood, there are so many great writers out there with great material. Open your eyes and roll the dice. Just in case you haven`t paid attention, Slumdog Millionaire did pick up a bag of Oscars, including Best Picture! Stop putting out shite! Just a thought for this morning. Everyone have a great weekend.
